Woodrush High School

An Academy for Students Aged 11-18

Tutorial Programme

A Form Tutor’s role is central in both caring for students and, crucially, monitoring their progress both academically and socially; encouraging involvement, commitment, and high standards of work and behaviour.

The tutorial programme has always been a core element of life at Woodrush due to its critical role in the social and emotional development of all students. Form Tutors are pivotal in achieving the vision for the school and through their daily contact with the students, play a major part in fostering positive approaches to learning. Therefore, over 2 ½ hours of curriculum time per week is dedicated to tutorial sessions for our students. It is a large investment and one which benefits our students to help them to achieve their best.

The tutor programme supports and develops students in the following areas:

  • Being Ready to Learn – equipment / uniform / attendance and punctuality / behaviour
  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • ASPIRE
  • Independent Learning Skills
  • Self awareness / self esteem
  • Further Education and Career guidance
  • Mentoring
  • Supporting Progress and Learning Conversations

Please see ASPIRE, NUMERACY, LITERACY links for more information.
